Andy Mckay

Andy is a highly experienced aviation professional with a diverse background in helicopter operations. Currently serving as the Standards Lead for Civil Aviation in New Zealand, Director of CAA for Niue, and an active Flight Examiner, Andy brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the industry. With over 7500 hours of flight experience and ratings on various single and multi-engine helicopters, including the H125, H155, MD, Bell, AS355 series, and BK117, Andy is well-equipped to handle a wide range of flight operations. As a former Chief Pilot for the Heliflight group and PT Eastindo in Indonesia, Andy has overseen utility operations and general helicopter operations in both countries, including mountainous terrain and in the tropics. He was the project lead for the development of standardization for Robinson Helicopters training within NZ and more recently the project lead on NVIS operations. Andy also serves as a technical advisor to a fire fighting contract in Indonesia and maintains currency on a range of helicopter operations external to his examining. Additionally, Andy is a graduate of Cranfield University's Applied Aircraft Accident Investigation Course and a former Police Detective with the Royal New Zealand Police. With a passion for aviation safety, Andy is available to offer guidance on flying or regulatory issues with confidentiality
